We get a lot of requests from a lot of artists looking to join the growing MCU community. Missouri singer-songwriter and now Nashvillian, Tim Schurrer recently sent us an email and copies of his "Never Be Alone" album and "I Moved To Nashville and Bought A Crockpot" EP.
All it took was one listen, and we have been big fans of Tim's work ever since. Listening to Tim's music is like putting your favorite album on your scratchy old turntable. As you sit back and soak in the soothing swells of Tim's intimate vocals, acoustic guitars, piano balladry and melodic hooks, you are introduced to a true artist-in-the-making. Tim reminds us of a young John Mayer or Ben Folds. In fact, production of Tim's "Never Be Alone" album took place in a small studio in Lenexa, Kansas, where John Mayer and Ben Folds once played.
Tim's rootsy and organic production is light years away from the slick corporate pop on the airwaves today. He is the "real deal" and we are so happy to have him as part of the Music City Unsigned community. John Mayer once said this in a blog about Dave Barnes a few years ago "He's one of those rare talents that comes so complete out of the box that you can't ask to change a thing..." In our opinion, he could also have been talking about Tim Schurrer.
Tim's motto is "you can't be sad when you are whistling" and we can all use a little bit of his music and that kind of perspective in our lives.
