The Worsties
If you've been a music lover for very long then you know the statement holds true that some bands just have to be experienced live. Simply listening to a record provides the listener with only a one-dimensional perspective of the artist or band. Music addicts like myself fully understand that in order to get our fix we have to actually see the music performed. I crave it just as much as I crave buying music. The band I recently learned this lesson with is the edgy rock and roll act The Worsties.

I've been fortunate to have known and followed the band for a while now, but up until now I wasn't ever able to make a show of theirs. I know, I'm a terrible person... But anyways, let me tell you, I was utterly blown away by their stage performance.

Comprised of Anna Worstell (vocalist), Jesse Worstell (guitars), Jairo Ruiz (bassist) and Nathan Shelton (drums), The Worsties is a rock band that looked straight into the eyes of today's music gods and laughed in their faces. Not only that, the band kicked them in the balls and took their lunch money. No seriously... They did. I saw.

Bringing together some of the best sounds of 70's era punk and 80's pop and glam rock, along with one of the most powerful female rock voices I've heard in this town, The Worsties have created a rock and roll sound they can truly call their own. Their music is full of energy and grit, with Jesse and Jairo's mean guitar riffs, Nathan's pounding and driving drum rhythms and Anna's dynamic vocals. The Worsties are incredibly fun to listen to, but even more fun to watch. Anna's stage presence is what really sets them apart. She is every bit of the kind of frontman I'd expect from a band like them. She a true badass on stage and has a talent for connecting with the audience. She's got the total package - jaw-dropping vocals, serious sex appeal and foxy attitude.

I never made it to a show at the legendary CBGB's in NYC (although I did have a shirt of theirs when I was a kid), but The Worsties are every bit the kind of band I'd expect to see there. Raw, dirty, sweaty, black leather and ripped jeans rock and roll...

Real rock and roll.
