So, just who is this band The Cold Stares?
First of all, their name came from the Black Crowes song "Stare It Cold." Secondly, there's only two of them. Yes two. Lead guitarist and vocalist Chris Tapp and drummer Brian Mullins. Does that make them a duo? Well, they're no Simon and Garfunkel. As Chris Trapp puts it in a
Guitarkadia interview, "We'd walk on stage and folks would think we were Simon and Garfunkel with just the two of us, and then we'd sound like Black Sabbath backing Muddy Waters - which would always leave folks mouths open and generate The Cold Stares."

I will let The Cold Stares describe their sound for you: "Pixies meet Muddy Waters meets Black Sabbath meets Son House meets P.J. Harvey. Looks like - the Afgan Whigs meets Lightning Hopkins playing blues in Clarksdale with Gordie Johnson. Feels like - chocolate in agent provocateur panties on Molly Simms dancing in a juke in Mississippi. Hits like - Apollo Creed. Smells like - sex, knob creek, sunday morning service, roast and Issey Miyake. Hurts like - Otis Redding and long distance love. Nothing sampled, nothing fake. No bass player needed."
