Technology has undeniably changed the face of the music business and how music is made, but Nashville singer / songwriter Justin Branam is delivering a concept both simple and unique. Armed with only a guitar and an iPhone, Justin has put together an EP aptly titled the iPhone Sessions. The entire EP was created on an iPhone from the album art to the recordings themselves. How does it sound, you ask? Surprisingly quite good. The EP features two previously released songs while offering three new songs that have never been available to the public.

Equally compelling is how Branam has chosen to release the EP. With the help of Kickstarter.com, a platform for individuals to fund their creative projects, Branam has made the iPhone Sessions available along with a handful of additional incentives. It is all in an effort to raise money to properly record a full length album in a studio the old fashion way. "It costs quite a bit of money to record an album, and I figured I'd give people an opportunity to hear some of the new songs in their original state, and if they like them and buy them, I'll go ahead and record them in a studio with a band," Branam says. Some of the additional incentives include having your name featured in the album's liner notes, a YouTube video of Justin singing any song that you'd like, and even having Justin play a concert in your living room. Kickstarter.com offers an "All or nothing" principal to fund raising where artists create a budget for their project and only receive money if their project is fully funded. Justin is currently trying to raise $3,000 to help finance the making of his new full length record.

Justin Branam is certainly no rookie to the music scene. In 2008, AOL Music hailed him as an artist to look out for, even giving him the title "Best In New Pop". The following year, Branam enlisted the help of a string quartet to release a lush EP entitled Introducing Justin Branam. Along the way, he has opened for the likes of Mat Kearney, Blessid Union of Souls, John Butler Trio, Mute Math, Matt Wertz, and Dave Barnes. He is currently polishing up songs for his full length record that he plans to record later this summer with the support and generosity of his fans.
