Their music is authentic. Their slogan "back to the roots. welcome to the future." They're a breath of fresh musical air on the Nashville scene. And their name is Music City Roots.

Last month, Jon Dicus and I caught my first Music City Roots show at the Loveless Barn that was an amazing night of music featuring performances by Radney Foster, Christabel and the Jons, Emmitt-Nershi Band. Here's what I loved about it!

Now, their 2010 schedule is underway and includes a slew of great artists like Will Hoge, Angel Snow, J.D. Souther, Shannon McNally, Will Kimbrough, Ashley Cleveland and a lots more super-talented folks. Check out the Music City Roots schedule
here.
I know I plan to head back this month, and if you have not yet caught a Music City Roots show, you're in for a real musical adventure. Here's what I loved about it!
-First of all, it takes place in a barn. How cool is that?
-Secondly, it's music seeped in rich tradition & heritage, with no glitz or glamour, just real music, from simply amazing musicians.
-Thirdly, it's a cool, old school style live radio show on Nashville's historic station, WSM-AM
-Fourthly, it only costs 10 bucks (and 5 bucks for you college students out there!)
-Last but not least, Music City Roots celebrates & showcases a diversity of music ranging from bluegrass and folk, alternative and western to rockabilly, rock, jazz and world music.

So, there ya have it! Please support Nashville's great music scene in 2010, and you can start by visiting the fine folks at Music City Roots.
Cheers,
Johnny T
